The Transit and Intercity Rail Program is a competitive capital grant awarded by the California State Transportation Agency for projects that demonstrate reductions in future greenhouse gas emissions. In the first two funding rounds, agencies have been awarded $390.9 million in TIRCP grants towards $4.3 billion worth of projects. Funds were used towards the purchase of buses, rolling stock, core capacity improvements to existing rail facilities, and for the construction of new facilities like the OC Streetcar and Metro-LAX Connector station.

Funding for the TIRCP Program is generated from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund
