Riders use both sets of doors for boarding a MUNI bus in San Francisco Photo courtesy of SFTRU.

Multi-door boarding allows transit riders to board a transit vehicle -- i.e. a city bus -- at any door, which speeds up entering and exiting of the vehicle considerably. This type of system requires an off-vehicle fare payment or proof of payment system.
