My name is Patrick Sunter, and I am currently completing a PhD at the University of Melbourne, Australia, in the Architecture, Building and Planning faculty. My work is related to the Australasian Center for the Governance and Management of Urban Transport GAMUT, an initiative supported by the Volvo Research and Education Foundation (VREF). The latter have several times supported international travel to conferences and workshops during my PhD.

My PhD is an action-research project into the potential of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in civic engagement with transport planning at the metropolitan scale. As part of this project, I'm working with FOSS tools such as OpenTripPlanner and the GTFS data standard in some depth. You can find out more about my project at the OSSTIP page on the Appropedia Wiki. Contact me at p.sunter AT pgrad.unimelb.edu.au .
